The Jewell City Council met in regular session Monday, Dec. 4, at City Hall. Those in attendance were Mayor, Darrell Bohnert; Council Members, Max Burks, Josh Burks, Gaye Daniels, Derek Birdsell, Bob Freeman and Kristie Anderson, city clerk.
Don Jacobs, Jewell County Sheriff, was present and said the city had little activity this last month.
James Reed, code enforcement officer, was present and discussed some properties he is working with to get up to code.
Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson said the Waste Tire Grant is coming up again. The 2024 dog tags have not arrived yet. She is hoping to get them soon. She also gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of December. Anderson talked about giving Bohnert a grant writing bonus-gift. The council approved giving Shelby Bohnert a $1,000 grant writing gift.
Jerod McMillan presented the monthly maintenance report. McMillan told about working on the sewer pond. Bohnert mentioned having McMillan move the electric display sign back towards the city office.
Land Bank Board provided the minutes from their last meeting. The land bank said Deb Bohnert and Becky Loomis are up for renewal on their terms. The council approved 3-year terms for both.
Building permits from R. Lyons, A. Jacobs and M. Burks were approved.
The council moved into executive session at 8:45 p.m. to discuss bonuses and wages. The council approved pay increases and listed bonuses as discussed.
Bonuses: Jerod - $250; Kristie - $1,000; Roy - $500; Jacque - $750.
Salary adjustments - Jerod $23.50 per hour; Kristie $19.78 per hour; Roy $12.80 and Jacque $15.91.
