SHS wrestling opens season at Harvard

The Superior High School wrestling team opened the 2023 season at the Harvard Invitational Saturday.

Superior finished in 10th place with 60 points. Teams from 14 other schools competed at the event. Schools represented were Johnson County Central, Red Cloud-Blue Hill, Sutton, Republic County, Alma, Nebraska Christian, Meridian, Riverside, Shelton, Sandy Creek, Harvard, Kenesaw, Lawrence-Nelson and Hastings St. Cecilia.

Holden McDonald started his season off with a first place finish in the 126 pound weight bracket.

Cooper Laaker was in fifth place in the 132 pound weight class.

Kyler Boyles showed up in second place in the 190 pound weight bracket.

The team competes in a dual match at wood River Friday. The Wildcats travel to Daykin Saturday for the Meridian Invitational.
