Raider wrestlers open season with invitational

Elledge leads Raider Wrestlers in opening match

The Nebraska High School Winter Sports began last weekend and for the L-N Raider Wrestling team that meant a trip to Harvard on Saturday for their wrestling invitational.

L-N had four participants in the meet with the following results:

285 Pound Class: Nathan Elledge (4-1) placed third and scored 13.0 team points. The start for Nathan was inauspicious as he lost his opening round. However, he won rounds two, three and four with falls over competitors from Sandy Creek, Alma and Sutton. For the third place match Nathan won by a decision over Eric Wu of Nebraska Christian.

190 Pound Class: Brandt McLaughlin (0-5) placed 8th. Brandt had a rough start for the year as he lost all five of his matches to competitors from Nebraska Christian, Sutton, Red Cloud-Blue Hill and Kenesaw.

175 Pound Class: Augustus Harrison (1-3) placed 8th for the day. His first match was won by Augustus with a fall over his opponent from Superior. He lost Round 2 and received a bye in Round 3. The consolation round and seventh place match were lost to opponents from Johnson County Central and Sandy Creek.

175 Pound Class: Grayhm Beck (0-3) placed 13th. Grayhm lost three matches to opponents from Republic County, Kansas, Sutton and Johnson County Central and had two byes in the Consolation Bracket and 13th place Match.

This Saturday the team will travel to Osceola for anothe rinvitational meet.
