Members of the Jared Shroyer family (left) and Cheryl and Carl Mohler join a wagon full of people for the first horse drawn wagon ride through Candy Cane Lane, Friday evening. Two horse drawn wagons provided the transportation. Both teams were owned by a young man from Polk, Neb. He said, “This time of year I crisscross Nebraska providing rides.” He also provided a wagon which he had built. The second wagon was owned by Jerry Mousel.
Callum McCord blows out the fire encircling his charred marshmallow at the Scout Cabin, Friday evening. Hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows seemed particularly popular for those who gathered for horse drawn wagon rides through Candy Cane Lane. Most had dressed warmly in hunting clothes or their best farm winter chore clothing. At 6:30 p.m. it was 28 degrees F. outside with little to no wind. Groups tended to come as extended families, but early in the evening there was still plenty of room. The Superior Invitational Wrestling meet was stiff competition.
