Delmer Young

Delmer E. Young, son of Vernon W. Young and Millie M. (Strine) Young, was born on April 3, 1935, at Seneca, Missouri, and died on Nov. 19, 2023, at Thayer County Health Services, Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 88.

In Delmer’s early years, he lived in Taneyville, Missouri. The family later moved to Hebron where he met the love of his life. He was united in marriage to Barbara J. Barnes on Jan. 10, 1954. To this union two sons were born, Gary L. and Douglas A.  Delmer was the service manager for Geis Motors and John Kohl Auto Center in York, Nebraska, for more than 40 years.  They spent their retirement years living in Chester, Nebraska.

He was a member of the Chester Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Millie Young; one brother, Alfred Young; two sisters, Leota Clark and Wauneta Packwood.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Young of Chester; two sons, Gary (Billie) Young of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Doug (Jacki) Young of Lincoln, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Paige Young and Sierra Young, both of Lincoln, Nebraska; one brother, Ronald (Jane) Young of Monticello, Indiana; other relatives and many friends.

Delmer’s funeral was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, at Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, Kansas, conducted by, Pastor Brian Faust.

Interment was in the Chester Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Delmer E. Young Memorial Fund.
