Chapter J tested on Christmas song knowledge

P. E. O. Chapter J met at Salem Lutheran Church on Nov. 13, with Karen Thayer and DeAnna Tuttle serving as co-hostesses.

During the regular business meeting, Sue VanSkiver, president, relayed information received from the state and national offices and reminded all that Chapter DS in Superior would be hosting Chapter J for an evening social on Monday, Nov. 27. Donations were gathered for a gift package to be sent to the residents and staff at the PEO Home in Beatrice. Those not present can still get their gift to President Sue or Donna Jensen by the end of the month.

The program on Christmas song trivia was presented by Connie Porter. The members were given a quiz on missing words in songs or carols and in some instances the names of songs made famous by or written by stars of the ages. DeAnna Tuttle led the pack with 15 out of 20 correct answers and also knew that Jingle Bells was originally written to be a Thanksgiving song acknowledging the changing of the seasons.

No regular meeting will be held in December because of the holiday season but the group will come together on Monday, Jan. 22, to begin the chapter year.
