The Jewell County Commissioners Brent Beck, Keith Roeand Ed Duskie met Nov. 6, with Carla Waugh, county clerk, present for the meeting.
P.J. Garst, solid waste director, discussed selling the 1980 Chevrolet flatbed and 1994 Dodge pickup used by the department. He also discussed purchasing a used pickup and a dump trailer.
Don Jacobs, sheriff, discussed the hailed damage 2015 Chevrolet pickup he is going to sell which has approximately 129,000 miles. Don discussed purchasing two body vests from the diversion fund. He discussed the employee of the quarter program he started in the sheriff’s department.
Cindy Becker, health administrator, discussed training for the new billing program. She said the department is required to purchase the COVID-19 vaccine. She also discussed other vaccines and grants. Cindy said they are required to have a secure email address and she has contacted LockIt for assistance.
Joel Elkins, general superintendent, discussed road and bridge maintenance. He requested permission to purchase a 10X10 storage building from Evan Reiter to place at the Ionia motor grader location. He said one motor grader is at Foley’s for repair.
Commissioners signed the addendum to the waste services contract with Hamm Quarry, LLC.
