The 2023 general election was held last Tuesday. Here are is the unofficial summary of election results for Jewell County.
The total number of ballots cast were 445. Several positions ran unapposed while some positions did not have a candidate. Here are the positions that had choices:
Voters could vote for five for Burr Oak City Council. Only two names were on the ballot: Trevor Elkins, 29 votes; and Morgan Hale, 25 votes.
Three were elected to the Jewell City Council. Votes cast were: Joshua Burks, 67; Don Delzeit, 64; Bob Freeman, 62; and Bailey Hajny, 12.
For USD 107, school board position 5 had two contestants. Bobi Fogo, 141 votes, and Christina Jeffery, 84. Bobi Fogo was the unofficial winner.
Position 7 at-large had three vying for the one spot: Ashleigh Cole, 97; Perry D. Colson, 108; and Marc Grout, 215. Marc Grout was the unofficial winner.
In Mankato’s mayor race, Justin Schoonover, the incumbent, defeated Susan Abel. Schoonover had 59 votes. Abel, 44. Both were write-in candidates.
For Mankato City Council, Rodney L. Payne received 161 votes and Stuart Boyles, 43.
