The Jewell City Council met Monday Oct. 2, at City Hall. Those in attendance were Mayor Darrell Bohnert; council members, Josh Burks, Max Burks, Derek Birdsell and Kristie Anderson, city clerk. Gaye Daniels and Bob Freeman were absent.
Jewell County Sheriff Don Jacobs was present. Jacobs said the department was getting a new hire and has one position left to fill.
Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson presented the audit report for 2022. She said they were running an underground line to the electric sign by the city office. Anderson also gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of November.
Jerrod McMillan was present. McMillan talked about the current projects David has shown him and also told of the upcoming projects he has planned. M. Burks moved to purchase enough millings to lay on Grant Street by the elevator and to purchase one load to put down at Emerson Lake. It was approved by all.
Anderson presented G. Spitz’s domestic animal permit. All approved. Building permits for J. Burks, R. Rogers and B. Loomis were approved.
From the community center, Bohnert said the old freezer in the daycare room is needing to be removed. Two of the big roasters are needing replaced sometime soon. He was going to look at shopping deals that are coming soon.
