Giving Tree sponsors hope to brighten holiday

The Nuckolls County Human Interagency Services (HIS) Team is again sponsoring a “Giving Tree” for residents of Nuckolls County this Holiday Season. The HIS team is comprised of Deb Ostidiek, Verlene Watson, Peggy Meyer, Janice Reinke from Hope Pregnancy Center, Ashlei Roesti from Community Action Partnership and Maddie Peterson from Brodstone Healthcare.

The Giving Tree project is a coordinated effort with many area businesses, organizations, groups and individuals. The Giving Tree also coordinates with the Coats for Kids Project, Toys for Tots, and the Nuckolls County Food Pantry, which helps supply a Food Box that contains all the ingredients a family needs for a delicious Christmas dinner.

Gift tags are available for the public to fill and return at local businesses including Superior Pharmacy and Dollar General in Superior, the Nelson Post Office and Farmers and Merchants Bank in Lawrence. Giving Tree gifts need to be returned to those locations no later than Dec. 10.

The HIS Team appreciates all the support received from county residents, businesses and supporting agencies. The “Giving Tree” recipients of past years express much gratitude, appreciation and thanks for helping to make their Christmas season a joyous time with gifts and food they would not have been able to provide for their families. Giving of one’s time and treasures are the greatest gift a person could give.

This year the Giving Tree expects to provide 100 families with gifts and food. This would not be possible without the great support of all the generous people in Nuckolls County. If you are feeling blessed this year and are looking for a way to give back to the community, please consider making a donation or filling a tag from the “Giving Tree.” Monetary donations can be mailed to Giving Tree, 164 Road 3650, Superior, Nebraksa, or given to any HIS member. All money collected will be used to fill remaining tags and family needs. Contact Peggy Meyer for more information. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Human Interagency Services Team!
