Polls open 7 a.m. Tuesday

Kansas Election

This year Jewell County citizens have an opportunity to select representatives to the boards governing the school districts and incorporated communities.

The polls will open at 7 a.m. Tuesday and remain open until 7 p.m. for registered voting at the Burr Oak Community Center, Jewell County Courthouse and the Jewell Community Center.

Voters also had an opportunity to cast an advance ballot but that opportunity ended yesterday (Wednesday).

Depending upon where a person lives, they have an opportunity to elect a mayor, council members, school board members, and extension board members.

Though only one school, Rock Hills, is located within the county, the county is served by two districts based in Republic County and one each in Mitchell and Cloud counties.

Though no one filed for the mayor’s position in Mankato, Burr Oak, Randall or Webber, Susan Abel Diehl is a write-in candidate for the Mankato position. For the Rock Hill School Board candidates include, Brenden Wirth, position 1, Brandon Hollerich, position 3, Bobi Fogo and Christina Jeffery, position 5, Asleigh Cole, position 7, and Perry Colson and Marc Grout for the at-large position.
