SHS volleyball ends season with loss

The Superior High School volleyball team saw their post-season hopes evaporate Monday when Tri County handed them a four-set, 18-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 21-25, at Hebron's Thayer Central High School gymnasium effectively ending the season for the Wildcats who are too far down the wildcard point list to ease into the district finals through that door.

Superior ended its regular season schedule at the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament at Milford last Tuesday.

The Wildcats fell to Milford, 18-25, 15-25 and 22-25, in three sets. They downed Centennial, 21-25, 25-18 and 25-23, in three sets.

Reagan Meyers led the Wildcat killers against Milford with 11. Teegan Duncan claimed seven kills. Ariana Heusinkvelt contributed five kills. Halle Bargen and Madison Heusinkvelt accounted for three kills apiece. Lilly Edwards had one kill.

Bargen lashed through two aces. Mia Gardner, A. Heusinkvelt and Meyers each scored with an ace.

Teegan Duncan lifted up 14 digs. A. Heusinkvelt and Meyers added eight digs each. Gardner threw in three digs. Edwards was credited with two digs. Faith Butler recorded a dig.

Meyers topped the kill list against Centennial with 18. Duncan listed five kills. Bargen and A. Heusinkvelt came away with four kills each. M. Heusinkvelt went for three kills. Edwards registered two kills. Butler had one kill.

Gardner and A. Heusinkvelt each scored with an ace.

Duncan posted 14 digs. Meyers came up with 13 digs. Bargen collected 12 digs. Gardner popped up seven digs. Butler located five digs. A. Heusinkvelt handled three digs.

Statistics were unavailable for the Tri County match.

The Wildcats lose Duncan, Cayce Barry, Edwards, M. Heusinkvelt and Gardner to graduation.

Superior finished with a record of 22-9.
