L-N volleyball enters post-season play

The Lawrence-Nelson High School volleyball team finished their regular season schedule with a triangular match at Giltner last Tuesday. The Raiders lost to the host Giltner Hornets in three sets, 25-20, 21-25 and 23-25. They grounded the Franklin Flyers, 25-16 and 15-15, for a two-set sweep.

They opened sub-district play, Monday with a three-set sweep of Giltner, 25-21, 25-10 and 25-11, at Shelton, to advance to the final match against Shelton Tuesday at Shelton Match results were unavailable at press time.

Sydney Biltoft led the Raider killers against Giltner with 15. Kara Menke landed eight kills. Hanna Skinner accounted for four kills. Josie Hajny had one kill.

Biltoft and Addi McCloskey sliced through three aces each. Menke and Jessica Sole each scored with an ace.

Val Koehler lined up 14 digs. Skinner totaled 12 digs. Menke listed nine digs. McCloskey added eight digs. Sole landed seven digs. Biltoft claimed three digs. Epiphanae Lowery had one dig.

Biltoft topped the kill list against Franklin with nine. Menke shouldered six kills. Hajny came up with five kills. Skinner finished with four kills. Wehrman added two kills.

Biltoft, Menke and Skinner slipped through two aces apiece. Sole scored with an ace.

Koehler, McCloskey, Skinner and Sole contributed four digs each. Biltoft, Menke and Wehrman accounted for digs each.

Menke was atop the kill list against Giltner with 11. Biltoft showed up with 10 kills. Skinned provided seven kills. Hajny added two kills while Wehrman had one kill.

Menke lined through three aces. Biltoft, Skinner and Sole blasted through two aces each.

Skinner led the diggers with nine. McCloskey provided eight digs. Biltoft jammed up six digs. Sole accounted for five digs. Koehler set up four digs. Wehrman added three digs.

Advancement to the district finals is dependent upon the outcome of Tuesday’s match.
