A new medsafe has been installed in the lobby of the Jewell County Sheriff's Office. Cindy Becker and Abigail Elkins applied for a received a grant from DCCCA to purchase the medsafe. The medsafe is a metal box that locks. This is to ensure no one can get into the prescriptions without a key.
Don Jacobs, Jewell County Sheriff, asks county residents who are no longer going to use a medication, bring it by the sheriff's office and dispose of it in the medsafe. All used prescriptions are sent to the Drug Enforcement Adminstration to be disposed of properly. Saturday, Oct. 28, is National Drug Take Back Day.
The Sheriff's Office lobby will be open all day Saturday for all of the old prescriptions may be brought in and disposed of. Sheriff Jacobs said if you cannot make it Oct. 28, you can bring your old prescriptions to sheriff's office anytime.
