County awarded Local Safety and Security Equipment Grant

Don Jacobs, sheriff, said they received notification of being awarded the Local Safety and Security Equipment Grant Program in the amount of $61,345 for the upgrade of the 9-1-1 communications equipment. The total cost of the equipment is $68,161 with the remainder of the funds paid out of the 9-1-1 fund and the VIN fund. Kevin Peroutek, 9-1-1 coordinator, advised of the LEPC meeting on Oct. 11.

Republic County commissioners telephoned to discuss the NCKLEPG. It was agreed that both county boards go into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel with Carla Waugh present and Republic County commissioners and clerk via telephone. Regular session resumed with no action taken. Commissioners approved to remain in the NCKLEPG for fiscal year 2023 (July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024.) and to pay the $1,500 county match.
