Commissioners approve Postalocity to mail the 2023 tax statements

The Jewell County Commissioners met Oct. 9. Commissioners Brent Beck, Keith Roe and Ed Duskie, and Carla Waugh, county clerk, were present for the meeting.

Jeremy Luedke, undersheriff, discussed repairs to the patrol vehicle. Repairs for the 2020 Durango at Jewell Station for a total of $1,488.48 were approved.

Brenda Eakins, county treasurer, requested approval of the bid from Postalocity to mail out the tax statements. The bid was approved. Brenda also discussed hiring a part-time person for the treasurer’s office.

Darren Booth, Theel Insurance representing Freedom Claims, reviewed the proposed medical plan design for BCBS and one for AETNA. He said the plans are managed by Freedom Claims with the employees receiving two cards to present to providers in place of one card currently in use.

Shannon Meier, ambulance director, reviewed the monthly activity report and billing report for September. The commissioners went into executive session to discuss confidential data relating to financial affairs. Regular session resumed with the approval to write off $513.01 for the third quarter 2023 for EMS. Shannon also discussed responding to the KCAMP Risk Assessment report.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, discussed road and bridge maintenance. Joel discussed the KCAMP Risk Assessment report.

Cindy Becker, health department, discussed the KCAMP Risk Assessment report. She also discussed returning the health department hours back to regular hours.
