Co. board meets with architectural firms

Nuckolls County Board

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson Monday. All three commissioners were present.

The board approved routine claims. They approved a new service contract for the copier in the county assessor’s office.

Members of the board had a conversation with representatives of two architectural firms to gain an insight into the costs and structuring of a possible new courthouse building. The two will return in January with estimates.

Representatives from the Aurora Cooperative met with the board. They were inquiring about the possibility of reopening a road near the Superior East facility. The road was closed to truck traffic five years ago after numerous complaints concerning excessive dust levels. Previous dust abatement attempts were unsuccessful. Lowering the speed limit was not successful. The board declined to reopen the road at this time.

A Superior juvenile who had been at large after failing to report to a North Platte group home several weeks ago was apprehended at a Superior residence Monday. A commitment hearing was held Monday afternoon and he was remanded to a facility in Madison. He will remain there until his next hearing Nov. 6.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the county courthouse on Monday, Nov. 6.
