Raider volleyball downs Red Cloud and Kenesaw

Last Tuesday’s inclement weather led to the postponement of a triangular volleyball match at Kenesaw. The Lawrence-Nelson High School team used the extended rest period to fashion two wins at Monday’s rescheduled match. They downed Red Cloud, 25-18, 26-24 and 25-19, in three sets. They handed host Kenesaw a three set, 25-15. 25-19 and 29-27, loss.

The Raiders traveled to Blue Hill, Tuesday for a match against the Bobcats with results unavailable at press time.

Kara Menke led the killers against Red Cloud with nine. Sydney Biltoft fashioned seven kills for the match. Josie Hanjy came through with three kills. Hanna Skinner, Jessica Sole and Natalia Wehrman recorded one kill each.

Skinner and Sole sliced through four aces apiece. Biltoft scored with an ace.

Val Koehler hit the deck for eight digs. Biltoft, Addi McCloskey and Menke registered six digs apiece. Skinner and Sole contributed five digs each. Wehrman took credit for three digs. Hajny added two digs while Brook Combs had one dig.

Menke stepped up for 16 kills against Kenesaw. Biltoft came through with six kills. Hajny finished the match with four kills. Skinner added three kills.

Sole lashed through two aces. Koehler, McCloskey and Skinner each scored with an ace.

Menke and Skinner produced 14 digs each. McCloskey had her hands on 10 digs. Koehler and Sole lifted up eight digs apiece. Biltoft manufactured six digs. Hajny added two digs while Wehrman had one dig.

The Raiders host a triangular match with High Plains Community and Bruning-Davenport-Shickley at Law-rence today (Thursday).

The Raiders travel to Blue Hill Saturday for the opening round of the Twin Valley Conference tournament. Play concludes in the TVC tourney Monday. Lawrence-Nelson closes out regular season play Tuesday with a triangular match at Giltner along with Franklin.
