The Corn Show is Here
It is time for the Jewell Corn Show – the 81st Annual Corn Show. This one has something for everyone.
If you like exhibits – they will be in the Jewell Community Center – see them on Thursday evening, Friday afternoon and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30p.m.
What about food and vendors? Grab-N-Go will be Friday evening at the North Wings Lodge and Restaurant. Grab a bierock, hot ham and cheese or cheeseburger. Vendors will be in downtown Jewell from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Come and shop! Also, food and drink vendors starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday!
Do you like cars? The 10th annual Car Show will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday. It will be held on Delaware Street, just east of the Jewell City Office.
Maybe contests are to your liking? Try the “Pair-A-Dice Run” on Friday at 6 p.m. Get your lawn mower, ATV or golf cart meet the community center then cruise Jewell and get the best roll and win!
Or compete in the 5K Jewell Corn Show Fun Run or the 1 Mile Donut Run – start in front of the Guaranty State Bank at 8 a.m. on Saturday!
There is also the corn hole tournament on the north side of Maag Park at 12 Noon on Saturday. Bring a partner!
For youth – there will be a plethora of fun and games in Maag Park from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Everything from a duck pond to banana Bikes, dime toss to fun cycles. Bring the children and enjoy the afternoon!
One more contest – a road rally! It starts at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Good luck and follow directions!
Interested in your health? The Jewell County Health Department will be giving flu shots and COVID vaccine on Saturday from 8 a.m to noon. Bring your Medicare or insurance card and find them at the Jewell Community Center.
The Jewell County Sheriff’s Department will be there too – starting around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. They will have a car seat check and “Touch a Truck” plus “Beer Goggles.”
At 10:30 a.m. is the Corn Show Parade! Grand marshals are Frosty, Kerma and Rachel Crouse! Floats, cars, candy and the Rock Hills Marching Band. Right after the parade is the barbeque at the Jewell Fire Station.
Ever been to the Jewell Apartments? Take a tour from 1 to 3 p.m. on either Saturday or Sunday.
Are you interested in music? Bring your lawn chair to the city park at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening for Faith’s Journey. They are all the way from Branson, Missouri! More Music? Savanna Chestnut and Nate Kein will be at the old Jewell High School from 8 p.m. to midnight!
Ready to slow down? On Sunday there will be a soup dinner at the Jewell Community Center from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Enjoy soup and friends as the 81st Corn Show comes to an end.
