Juveniles sentenced

Nuckolls County Court was in session Monday with Judge Michael Burns presiding.

He passed sentence on two juvenile offenders for events which occurred in January, February and March.

One juvenile was sentenced to more than a year of probation which will end when he turns 19. He must wear an electronic ankle monitor until a space is found for him in a group home.

The second juvenile was sentenced to 24 months of supervised probation. He must wear an electronic ankle monitor for at least 30 days or longer should his probation officer decide it is needed.

Any violation of the electronic monitor or any other probation restrictions will result in an immediate return to detention.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 2, at the courthouse.

The Nuckolls County Board of commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson Monday. All three board members were present.

The board approved submitted claims. The board approved a utility permit for the City of Superior.

Jenna Gilbert introduced herself to the board as the extension instructor at the county extension office. The board approved a request to paint the wooden portions of the extension office building to prevent water damages.

The board agreed to provide a one-time payment of $1,600 to assist with the procurement of a vehicle utilized by regional veterans service offices in Adams and several other counties.
