SHS volleyball wins against Kenesaw and Doniphan-Trumbull

The Superior High School volleyball team made the most of their visit to Kenesaw last Tuesday. The Wildcats swept the host Kenesaw Blue Devils, 25-18 and 25-21, in two sets. They replicated the win with a two-set 25-20 and 25-18 sweep of the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals.

The Wildcats' visit to Shickley for their match with the D 1 Bruning-Davenport-Shickley Eagles was disappointing for the Superior as they fell in four sets, 20-25, 16-25, 25-15 and 25-23, for their third loss of the season.

The Wildcats traveled to Sandy Creek, Saturday, for the Sandy Creek Invitational. They swept Sandy Creek, 25-233 and 25-14, in two sets. They followed up with a three-set, 18-25, 25-13 and 25-11, win over Fillmore Central. They took on the undefeated Meridian Mustangs and were handed a two-set, 13-25 and 23-25 loss.

Superior hosted the Sutton Mustangs at the high school gymnasium Tuesday with match results unavailable at press time.

Reagan Meyers was atop the kill list against Kenesaw with nine. Teegan Duncan posted three kills. Lilly Edwards and Ariana Heusinkvelt finished the match with two kills apiece. Halle Bargen had one kill.

Duncan scored all three Superior aces.

Bargen cleaned up nine digs. Duncan produced seven digs, Mia Gardner accounted for six digs, Meyers bagged four digs. Madison Heusinkvelt had one dig.

A. Heusinkvelt hit the net for six kills to lead Superior against Doniphan-Trumbull. Duncan and Meyers claimed four kills each. M. Heusinkvelt hit the net for three kills. Edwards recorded two kills. Cayce Barry had one kill.

Meyers scored the lone Wildcat ace.

Bargen kept busy rounding up 15 digs. Duncan and Gardner cleaned up with nine digs. Butler chimed in with four digs. A. Heusinkvelt and M. Heusinkvelt came through with two digs apiece. Edwards had one dig.

Meyer led the Wildcats in kills with 12. Duncan landed 10 kills at the net. Bargen nailed five kills. A. Heusinkvelt ground out four kills. Edwards jammed down three kills. M. Heusinkvelt had one kill.

Bargen, Duncan and Meyers accounted for two aces apiece. Butler and A. Heusinkvelt lined through an ace apiece. Bargen stayed busy while acquiring 29 digs. Duncan was active with 22 digs. Butler lifted up 13 digs. Meyers came through with eight digs. Gardner finished up with seven digs. A. Heusinkvelt caught up with six digs. Edwards added three digs. M. Heusinkvelt had one dig.

Duncan and Meyers put up 10 kills apiece for Superior against Sandy Creek. Bargen and M. Heusinkvelt finished with two kills each. Edwards and A. Heusinkvelt each had a kill.

A. Heusinkvelt sliced through four aces. Duncan lined through three aces.

Bargen swept up 11 digs. Duncan accounted for five digs. Meyers popped up four digs. Butler and Gardner collected three digs each. M. Heusinkvelt handled two digs. Edwards had a dig.

Meyers listed nine kills against Fillmore Central. Bargen came through with five kills. Duncan and A. Heusinkvelt added four kills each. M. Heusinkvelt posted three kills. Edwards finished the match with two kills.

Meyers ripped through seven aces. Bargen scored with an ace.

Bargen was the top digger with 18. Meyers lifted up 11 digs. Gardner listed 10 digs. Duncan chimed in with eight digs. Butler had three digs.

Meyer was the lead killer against Meridian with seven. Duncan put up three kills. M. Heusinkvelt had two kills.

A. Heusinkvelt zipped through two aces. Butler, Duncan and Meyers each scored with an ace.

Duncan cleaned the floor with 11 digs. Butler and Meyers claimed 10 digs each. Edwards and Gardner gathered five digs each. M. Heusinkvelt added two digs.

The Wildcats visit Alma Saturday for a triangular match with Blue Hill and Alma. Superior is on the road to Cairo Tuesday for a match with Centura.
