It just doesn't get easier for the Lawrence-Nelson volleyball team. They hosted the undefeated Class D1 Exeter-Milligan-Friend Timberwolves at Lawrence last Tuesday. The wolf pack left Lawrence with their unblemished record intact after a tough four-set, 24-26, 25-20, 21-25 and 25-9 marathon.
Another D 1 team, the Deshler Dragons, visited Lawrence, Thursday, and departed with a three set sweep, 25-27, 17-25 and 10-25, of the Raiders.
Lawrence-Nelson faced off against Kenesaw and Aquinas Catholic at the Exeter-Milligan-Friend Invitational at Friend Saturday. Kenesaw handed the Raiders a two-set, 13-25 and 19-25 loss. Class C-2 Aquinas downed the Raiders in three sets, 26-24, 19-25 and 22-25.
The Raiders hosted a triangular match with Harvard and Kenesaw at Lawrence Tuesday with match results unavailable at press time.
Kara Menke led the Raider killers with 16 against the Timberwolves. Hanna Skinner contributed six kills. Sydney Biltoft added four kills. Josie Hajny, Claire Himmelberg, Addi McCloskey and Natalia Wehrman kicked in a kill apiece.
Himmelberg and Menke zipped through three aces apiece. Biltoft and Jessica Sole added two aces each. McCloskey lined through an ace.
Sole swept the ground for 13 digs. Mc Closkey closed out with 11 digs. Biltoft listed 10 digs. Menke posted eight digs. Skinner recorded six digs. Himmelberg and Wehrman collected five digs each. Hajny had a single dig.
Menke was atop the kill list against Deshler with nine. Biltoft and Skinner put five kills each on the board. Hajny, Val Koehler and Natalia Wehrman had a kill each.
Menke put up 14 digs for the match. Himmelberg added 10 digs. Skinner scooped up eight digs. McCloskey and Sole took care of four digs apiece. Biltoft landed three digs.
Menke put away five kills against Kenesaw. Biltoft registered three kills. Koehler added two kills. Himmelberg had a kill.
Biltoft came through with six digs. McCloskey and Menke donated five digs apiece. Himmelberg, Koehler and Sole each claimed three digs. Hadley Ostdiek and Wehrman had a dig each.
Biltoft hit the net for 16 kills against Aquinas. Menke pushed down 13 kills. Wehrman landed two kills. Koehler had a kill.
Biltoft, Koehler and Menke each score with an ace.
McCloskey cleaned up with 17 digs. Sole followed with 16 digs. Koehler garnered 12 digs. Menke chipped in eight digs. Biltoft added two digs. Ostdiek and Wehrman had a dig each.
The Raiders host Shelton at Lawrence today (Thursday). Lawrence-Nelson travels to Hebron Tuesday for a triangular match with Fillmore Central and Thayer Central.
