Bills delivered late

lost utility bills

Somethings are too good to be true. As an example of this we reference the City of Superior utility customers who did not received on time a bill for their August utility services.

The city utility office mailed the utility bills which are now due on Friday, Aug. 31, expecting they would be delivered in a day or two. Some were but many were not. Some folks this newspaper contacted on Tuesday said they were still waiting but others had finally received the bills.

On Friday a spokesman for the utility department asked utility customers who had not received a bill to contact the utility office and request the balance due.

Though the bills may not have received, they are still due on Friday, Sept. 15, and penalties will be assigned for bills not paid when the utility office opens on Monday. Sept. 18.

For those who contact the utility office, the balance can be given over the phone or a copy of the bill sent via e-mail.

As is normal postal procedure, the bills mailed in Superior on Aug. 31 were sent to Omaha for sorting. Some apparently were sorted correctly, but some were not.

A utility customer contacted by this newspaper said, he received his bill on time, However, a check he mailed in February to pay his auto insurance has yet to be cashed and the insurance claims never to have received it. That was the third time this year, he had gotten past due notices for failure to pay insurance premiums on time. In two of the instances, an insurance company representative said the check had not been received. But once the company admitted to having applied the payment to the wrong account. The same customer reported having one check to a credit card company that apparently was not delivered.

Seldom does a week go by without this newspaper receiving one more complaints about newspapers not being delivered in a timely fashion.
