It was another tough outing for the Superior Wildcats when they went up against the Bruning-Davenport-Shickley Eagles at Shickley Friday. Kickoff was moved back an hour to 8 p.m. because of the 90 plus degree temperature. Slightly cooler temperatures did not cool off the Eagles.
B-D-S leapt out to a 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. They added 14 more in the second quarter to take 42-0 lead off the field at halftime.
The 35- point mercy rule went into effect for the third and fourth quarters with the game being played with a running clock.
Superior has a tough task with the limited number of players available as well as a lack of experience. The team never quits but sometimes the other team is just better.
Game statistics were unavailable at press time.
It’s Homecoming at Brodstone Memorial Field Friday. The Kenesaw Blue Devils (1-1) visit. The homecoming king and queen will be announced at the conclusion of the game. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. with milder temperatures in the forecast.
