MLH's east Visitor Entrance to reopen

Beginning Tuesday, the visitor entrance on the east side of Mary Lanning Healthcare will reopen to the public. In addition, work will begin on the link between the MLH Medical Office Building (MOB) and the main hospital.

Mark Callahan, MLH chief operating officer, said work on the link is one of the last parts of construction on the MOB, which recently was doubled in size. This project will flatten out the link’s grade and bring it up to date with the current look of the MOB. Link construction should take about three months.

Patients and visitors moving between the main hospital and the MOB will be able to walk from the South MOB entrance and the visitor entrance.

Currently, the Bryan College of Health Sciences has moved in to the third floor of the new MOB. In October, Hastings Family Care will move into the second floor, and Hastings Orthopaedics will move into the first floor in January. This will bring many MLH clinics together in one location.

A ribbon-cutting event for the MOB will take place in late September.

Opening the visitor entrance also provides easy access to the main hospital’s Caring Kind Gift Shop, Garden View Grill and the elevators. Employee parking has been moved to make way for more visitor parking on the southeast corner of the MLH campus.

The visitor entrance will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Volunteers will be available for much of that time to help visitors if needed.

Surgery patients should continue to use the surgery entrance and those using outpatient services or checking in to the hospital should continue to use the north entrance.
