42 county clash in store for Friday

Friday night’s football game to be played on Superior’s Brodstone Memorial Field is being advertised by Brodstone Healthcare as the Brodstone Fandemonium 42 County Clash. It will pit the Superior High School Wildcats against the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders.

Before the game Brodstone will sponsor a booster meal starting at 6 p.m.

The Nuckolls County Knights, the county’s newest midget football team which includes players from both schools will take the field at halftime as they make their first public appearance as the Knights.

The Brodstone tent will feature games, giveaways and a chance to win a season game pass to the team of the winner’s choice.

The hamburger meal will be available for a free will donation.

Buckets representing each school’s booster club will be available to receive donations. In addition to the meal donations, Brodstone Healthcare will donate an additional $250 to each booster club.

The heat wave delayed the start of last week’s Superior vs. Alma game to 8 p.m. and some athletic contests have been postponed this week because of the temperature. In at least one instance the hot weather is thought to have contributed to a bus which failed while a team was en route to contest. If the weather forecasts are correct, the string of triple digit temperatures is to end today (Thursday) and Friday will be cooler.
