Members of the Rock Hills High School Future Business Leaders of America chapter attended the National Leadership Conference this summer. The event was held in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 27 to 30. The six members that qualified and advanced to this competition were Davin Coil, Savannah Coil, Hannah Simmelink, Bethany Simmelink, Allison Ost and Faith Reinert, who traveled with their advisor, Jill Griffith.
They competed against more than 8,700 high school students from nearly 1,600 high schools. Even with the tough standards at this event, two of the local members placed in the top ten. Davin Coil received sixth place in supply chain management, and Hannah Simmelink was awarded fifth place in agribusiness. Savannah Coil competed in spreadsheet applications, Bethany Simmelink competed in introduction to business presentation, Allison Ost competed in introduction to financial math, and Faith Reinert competed in introduction to parliamentary procedures.
This was Davin Coil's last year in FBLA being the group's only senior, but each of the other members will be returning and have hopes of competing at next year's conference held in Orlando.
