The average attendance for the summer was 72 patrons. One hundred, thirty swimming lessons were completed, 70 percent were private lessons. A new class called Parent and Me was also taught. This class is designed for children three months to four years, there were 12 participants. On the 4th of July the pool had 140 patrons, their admission was paid by the Superior Chamber of Commerce. Once a week the pool hosted an arobics class, taught by Tierney Casper. The average attendance was 22 patrons. The pool was open for laps six days a week.
Two midnight swims were hosted this summer, a new addition to the schedule. Next year the pool hopes to host one per month. The average midnight swim attendance was 88 patrons. The midnight swim gave working teenagers and adults a chance to swim and swim legally at midnight.
They held EMS mock scenarios, one included firemen practicing in full gear. They also had non floatation saves practice.
The water system was leaky again this year. In September that system will be replaced with new pumps, pipes and controllers by the Mullet Fund. There were other major repairs done this summer. A controller for the baby pool was cause for a safety concern and had to be replaced. The baby pool did not open until June 17. The water usage was down this year. They did have to pay more for maintenance this summer, including reroofing the main pool house.
The staff would like to tell patrons and supporters of the pool, "Thank you for a good year and listening to the lifeguards. We can't wait to see you again next year."
