Ost Competes in USATF Junior Olympic Nationals

Meili Ost competed this past week at the USATF National Junior Olympic track meet at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Hayward Field is a historic, world-class track and field venue that has hosted many high-profile events such as the U.S. Olympic Trials, NCAA Championships, PAC-12 Championships, and USATF World Championships.  Meili, a member of the Kansas Flyers track club, competed in the 13 through 14 year old age group of the 4x800 meter relay last Tuesday. Her team finished 16th with a time of 10:35.54.  This team consisted of Meili Ost (Mankato), Reese Richards (Beloit), Katie Inwood (Sterling) and Eleanor Joiner (Ellinwood). On Wednesday, Meili competed in the 800 meter run preliminaries.  Meili finished 49th out of 75 (6 heats) running a 2:32.65.

Meili will be an eighth grader at Rock Hills Middle School this fall. She is the daughter of Kevin and Nikki Ost of Mankato and the granddaughter of LaVon and Judy Ost of Burr Oak and Dennis and Lannie Nelson of Agra.
