Ramona Earley

Ramona Ilene Earley, 79, the daughter of Howard George Reed and Ina May (Fraley) Reed was born Nov. 24, 1943, in Chester. She died July 13, at Downs Care & Rehabilitation, Downs, Kansas.

Ramona grew up and attended school in Chester in her early years. Later she moved to rural Belleville where she graduated from Belleville High School.  She then attended Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina.

On Aug. 12, 1962, she was united in marriage to Marvin L. Earley. He survives.

Ramona began employment in January of 1962 at Kansas State University in the comptrollers department and later in the agronomy department until 1971.   In June of 1971, she moved to Denver, where Ramona worked for the United Bank of Denver in the trust division. She then worked for a dentist and orthodontist in Denver for 17 years as a bookkeeper and secretary.

In April of 2005, Ramona and Marvin retired and moved to Sun City, Arizona, where she was an avid golfer, traveled, read books and liked to crochet and embroidery.  In May of 2023, they moved to Beloit, to be near family.

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ina May Reed; brother, Howard E. Reed; and sister, Lorelei E. Lindblad.

Ramona is survived by her husband, Marvin L. Earley, of Beloit; and two sisters, Nancy Ray of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Jane Jeardoe of Belleville.

Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, with Pastor Brian Faust, officiating.

Inurnment will follow at the Belleville Cemetery.

Friends may call to sign the register book from 1 until 6 p.m., today (Thursday) and after 9 a.m., Friday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville.
