Caroldene Y. Williams was born to Carold and Opal Lorriane (Caramer) Herrick on March 12, 1937, in Webster County, Nebraska. She was one of six children. She died July 4, 2023, at Clarinda Regional Health Center surrounded by her loved ones.
Caroldene grew up in Alma, Nebraska. She graduated from high school there. After high school, she got a job as a telephone operator and started a family with her first husband. Together they had six children: Juanita, Jane, June, Jonnie, Jennifer and James Jellison. Later, she met and married Darrell Williams and gained two more children: Layne and Connie.
Caroldene was proud of her work, and she had great jobs. She worked for Wells Fargo and the Reinke Corporation. She donated her free time to the community center in Guide Rock.
Darrell and Caroldene enjoyed traveling, being outdoors and time with family. She lived in Guide Rock until her health started to fail. She then moved to an apartment in New Market, Iowa, to be closer to her family until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell: parents, Carold and Lorriane; son, Layne; brother, Wendell Herrick; and sister, Dixie Herrick
Caroldene is survived by her children: Juanita, Jane, June, Jonnie, Jennifer, James and Connie; brothers: Leonard, Butch and Bill; along with 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren along with many other family members and friends.
No services were planned, and the family held a private burial. Walker-Merrick-Billings Funeral Chapel of Clarinda, Iowa, helped the family with the arrangements.
