Commissioners review the 2024 draft budget

The Jewell County Commissioners met July 10. Commissioners Brent Beck, Keith Roe and Ed Duskie were present. Carla J. Waugh, county clerk, attended the meeting.

Randy Hofmeier, CPA of Lindburg Vogel Pierce Faris Chartered, reviewed the 2024 draft budget. The commissioner made reductions and adjustments to several funds. The Revenue Neutral Rate hearing and budget hearing were set for 10 a.m. on Aug. 28.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, reviewed a letter from the Bureau of Reclamation concerning the bridges over the canals. Ed Duskie reported rock is needed on 250 Road approximately 3.5 miles north of Randall.

The commissioners went into executive session to discuss non-elected personnel. Regular session resumed with no action taken.

Don Jacobs, Sheriff, discussed personnel and operations.
