Bruce Jerome Jeffs, the son of Alfred and Carol (Clark) Jeffs, was born March 6, 1972, at Hastings. He died July 11, at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 51 years, 4 months and 5 days.
Bruce grew up in the Blue Hill community and graduated from the Blue Hill High School in 1990. He managed the farrowing department in a commercial hog operation and worked for a period as a mechanic. He attended the North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit, before joining the United States Army to serve his country. Bruce served multiple tours including time in Afghanistan, Germany, Iraq and Bosnia. Following 12 years of duty, he retired from military service. On March 17, 2000, he was united in marriage with Rita Mastel at Omaha, Nebraska. They later moved to Hastings to help care for Bruce’s dad, Alfred. In 2002, they moved to Nelson to make their home.
In his leisure time, Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, gun collecting, reloading shells, collecting Avon bottles and knives. His constant day and night companion for 16 years was his dog, Lilly Bean. Bruce especially cherished time with his family and looked forward to their time together.
Preceding him in death were his father, Albert Jeffs; a brother, Brandon; and son, Cory Michael Dellamano.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Rita Jeffs; daughters, Jessica Dowdy and husband, Brandon; Samantha Roesti and husband, Jarett; Allison Jeffs; extended daughters, Virginia Lane and Amanda Jo Jensen; a grandson, Waylon Roesti; his mother, Carol Jeffs; brothers, Brad Jeffs and wife, Connie; Ben Jeffs; Barry Jeffs and wife, Tammy; a sister, Barbra Jeffs; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Superior.
The Rosary was recited at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 15, with the Mass following at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Superior with the Rev. Ferdinand Boehme officiating. Interment with military honor was at the Edgar Cemetery.
