Work continues on the Nelson sewers

In August of 2022, the Nelson sewer lines were cleaned and and a camera was snaked down into the lines to determine what repairs were needed. The decision was made to repair the lines using a trenchless service, inserting a liner from manhole to manhole.

Johnson Service company started work Thursday, repairing sewer lines in the City of Nelson. Last year the company presented a bid to line seven of the sewer line locations with CIPP lining. The bid was for $103,319, and The work was scheduled for 2023 budget year.

CIPP or Cured-in-Place-Pipe Lining is a trenchless method of sewer construction. It requires little or no digging and significantly less time to complete than other sewer repair methods. The process will take five to six hours to do one city block. Residents involved will be contacted ahead of time by a notification placed on their door asking them to limit sewer use during the time they are working in that area.

Johnson estimates it will take roughly 35 days to complete the project. This project will extend the life of the cities sewer lines in these areas.
