SHS golf at district

The Superior High School boys golf team competed at the District C-4 match Tuesday. The 18-hole match qualified teams and individuals for the state match at Columbus. The match was played over the Indianhead Golf Course in Grand Island.

Superior finished in 14th place, with a team score of 425, in the 15 team field of Grand Island Central Catholic, Heartland, St. Paul, Doniphan-Trumbull, Central City, Ord, Fillmore Central, Gibbon, Wood River, Hastings St. Cecilia, Centura, Twin River and Arcadia-Loup City. Grand Island was atop the team leader board with a score of 314.

Colten Butler shot the low round of 81 for Superior. He missed qualifying for state by one stroke. Carsyn Koening carded a round of 113. Ashton Grassman was in with a round of 106. Owen Perrie had a round of 126. Ayron grassman walked off with a score of 125.

The four lowest individual score make up the team score. For Kirk Utecht, head coach and Ron Thayer, assistant coach, the future is bright. Ashton Grassman and Perrie are the two seniors who will not return. A strong junior varsity team will fill up the ranks for the upcoming year. Butler, a freshman, will continue to grow his game and be a dominant player for the team.
