Supplier promises to solve courthouse HVAC problem

Nuckolls County Board

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county court house in Nelson Monday.

The board was faced with a lengthy agenda as the May 1 meeting was held to approve claims. The commissioners then departed on an educational junket to a John Deere manufacturing facility in Iowa.

The board worked through a thicket of routine business approving claims. They signed a letter of confirmation of bridge ownership and maintenance on Bureau of Reclamation land.

The board approved pledged securities presented by the county treasurer.

The board approved a request for burial assistance from the Veterans Service Officer for a Nuckolls County veteran.

The board heard a presentation from Steven Melnick who ia a representative of Colonial Life Insurance. The board approved a plan to cover county employees with a $10,000 life insurance policy. The county will pay two dollars per employee per month.

The board approved special designated liquor licenses for the Elk Creek Country Club and Superior Estates Winery.

Jonathan Hoesch from Trane Nebraska advised the board that he and his company would rectify the issues the county has been experiencing with the HVAC system installed at the courthouse.

The board approved funding requests for the Byway 136 Heritage Highway and Mid Land Area on Aging.

The board approved a 5.7 percent increase to the cost of county employye health insurance plans.

The courthouse will be closed Monday, May 29, to observe Memorial Day.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m., Monday, June 5.
