Jack Austin

Jack Wayne Austin, the son of Leonard and Mary (Myers) Austin, was born on Nov. 2, 1939, in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. He died on May 2, 2023, at the Brodstone Healthcare at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 83 years and 6 months.

Jack was a member of the Santa Paula Baptist Church in Santa Paula, California. On June 24, 1960, he was married to Judy Johnson at Santa Paula, California. He was a general aviation pilot for the FAA for many years. He was a Major in the army and served for 25 years in the Army Reserve.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Danny Austin and Charles Lack; and a brother-in-law, Terry Peters.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Superior; children, Scott (Belinda) Austin of Lubbock, Texas, Starr (Marlan) Thomas of Superior and Jeff (Trisha) Austin of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; nine grandchildren, Brandon Austin, Curtis Austin, Sierra Thomas, Ethan Thomas, Autumn Thomas, Aiden Thomas, Erin Thomas, Annie Austin and Jack Austin; two great-grandchildren, Ardyn Thomas and Freya Serrano along with two on the way by Sierra Countryman and Sydney Thomas. He is also survived by a brother, Larry (Betsy) Austin of Ventura, California, and two sisters, Janet (Mark) John and Fonza Peters of Las Vegas, Nevada.

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, from the Harvest Christian Church in Superior with Pastor Mike Sander officiating.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Thomas, Aiden Thomas, Brandon Austin, Jack Austin, Dylan Countryman and Sergio Serrano.

Interment with military honors will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Superior.
