High tea, low tea, Superior holding Vesty Festival tea

High Tea, Low Tea, and Afternoon Tea

High Tea, Low Tea, Afternoon Tea and even Cream Tea, Light Tea, Royal Tea, and Elevenses...Do I have your attention? During this month of May 2023, Teatime has been the subject of many social articles in the media.

There were many teas centered around the coronation of King Charles III in England. There was a fundraising tea at Wooster, Jacks London Grill celebrated the coronation with a tea party, while this writer even received her share of invitations to afternoon teas at Buckingham Palace Queen’s Gallery and Rubens Afternoon Tea for Two for a mere 159 lire for Two with a coupon code for a 20 percent discount, and a Cream Tea for Two at The Harrods Tea Rooms, just to mention a few.

Tea parties were even on the schedule for the 149th Run for the Roses Kentucky Derby. I cannot be sure if only tea was served by the hosts at these lavish affairs for after all, bourbon is the beverage of Kentucky and the main ingredient of the Derby’s signature drink Mint Julep. What I am sure of is, that everyone had a good time. This is especially true of Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano who road Mage to victory.

All this brings me around to Superior’s Victorian Festival High Tea at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, at the Lady Vestey Dining Room in the Vestey Center. Those attending will be served tea at a high table, and a more substantial menu provided including meat and cheese along with sweets and chocolate. Rachel Olsen from the National Willa Cather Center in Red Cloud will be on hand to entertain with stories and information about Ms. Cather.

Stop by Carmen’s, Horizon Bank and Home Federal Bank to get tickets for only a mere $10 and you don’t have to fly to London to attend.
