Claire Himmelberg, daughter of Randy and Beth Himmelberg, of Lawrence has been selected to attend the American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State June 4 through 10 on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Claire will study local, county and state government processes in this nonpartisan political learning experience. Every spring, the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program provides approximately 2,500 young women with a hands-on educational opportunity designed to instruct tomorrow's leaders in the privileges and duties of responsible citizenship.
Miss Himmelberg is finishing her junior year at Lawrence-Nelson High School and has seen an active first three years at the school. In sports, she had been busy with volleyball, basketball, track and golf. An honor roll student, Claire's extra-curricular activities include: National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, HOSA (a medical affiliated society), a L-N Club member, Academic club member. She is a Junior Auxiliary member, a past 4-H member and has worked as a life guard during the summers as well as attending CCD classes for her church.

The Auxiliary's mission to serve veterans, their families and their communities is carried out through its hundreds of outreach programs delivered by its members, volunteers and National Headquarters.
