Nebraska food was celebrated by 20 members of the Nelson Rubies when they gathered for lunch at a Nelson restaurant on April 18. After all had consumed their fill, Cindy Adamson provided information on famous foods and drinks founded in Nebraska.

Dorothy Lynch salad dressing is produced in the small town of Duncan.
The term ‘Rocky Mountain Oysters’ began in Nebraska.
Rueben sandwiches were created at the Blackstone Hotel in Omaha for a man named Rueben Kulakofsky. The Blackstone also made butter brickle ice cream.
Cheese Frenchee was first made at King’s Food Host in Lincoln.
Runza restaurants were established in Lincoln in 1949.
Potter Sundry in Potter invented the Tin Roof Sundae.
Raisin pie was created by an Amish community in Nebraska.
Throughout the state, who can resist Eileen’s Colossal Cookies, Baker’s Candies, Big Red Popcorn and of course, Nebraska beer, wine and distilleries.
