Author visits Jewell Public Library
On Tuesday, April 18, Rosie Eilert Bosse was in her hometown of Jewell. She was welcomed by the Jewell Library Board at the Jewell Public Library. Bosse is an author, an author of 10 children's books and eight adult novels.
Her first children's book, "How Clicker the Dog Got His Name," was published in 2016. The first adult novel, "North to Cheyenne," came out in 2019.
Rosie grew up on the Gallaher-Eilert farm southwest of Jewell and graduated with Jewell High School's Class of 1974. She never really left those agricultural roots and her children's books reflect those roots. She and her husband of 44 years, J R Bosse, live on a ranch near Onago.
Their family now consists of their three married children, their spouses, and 13 grandchildren. All are special as is their son, Austin, who is a priest. Rosie said she cried all through his ordination. Faith and love are such a part of Rosie, that isn't surprising.
Reading her books, one sees faith and love developed in her characters, along with honesty, courage, justice and a deep reverence for children. There is also a large dose of history and reality in her books. In the post-Civil War era, death was nearby for both the good and the bad. This is especially true in the books in the Home on the Range Series.
Bosse was in Jewell to sign the newest and eighth book in the series, "The Contract, A Cowboy's Promise and a Mother's Love." No spoilers in this article, but there are a couple of weddings in the book! Special guests at the reception were Kirby and Peggy Mullen from near Kirwin, Kansas. They were appropriately dressed as Badger and Martha – beloved characters in the series.
For loyal readers who have already finished the eighth book, there will be three more books in the Home on the Range series. But her readers needn't fear, another series is in the developmental stages.
