I saw the cutest little VW Beetle for sale the other day. It was lime green, with black and lime green leather interior and a sunroof. Needless to say, I dreamed and drooled over it for a few minutes. LOL! I have wanted a VW Bug or Beetle. They are just so cute.
That made me think about how I have been severely spoiled over the last 10 to 15 years by not having any major car trouble. The first 10 years of my adult life were littered with one shoddy car after another. I can’t even remember how many times I was stuck on the side of the road in the heat while I was pregnant with Robert. That car was a two-door Oldsmobile that I daydreamed about pushing off of a cliff on a daily basis.
My little Ford is a fairly reliable car, but I made the mistake of letting my boys drive it! We have put more than 250k miles on that car; all it needs is a couple of tires. Although the doors don’t open from the inside, which is annoying. The boys both promised to fix them and never did. The windshield has a crack in it. I can thank a trucker for that one, and also thanks to my boys, who drove it like they stole it, it now burns oil. There are probably more problems with it, but none of the issues affect its ability to run down the road for now.
The family car’s driver side window has been messed up all winter. It has come off the track. There is a screw rattling around in the bottom of the door. Because of the weather and time constraints, it has yet to reach the top of the fix-it list. I’m sure it’s not an expensive fix. Still, with it being the only reliable car we have at this time, aka the only vehicle with decent tires, we haven’t wanted to tear into it until it is warmer so that a trip to the parts store doesn’t end with us in the hospital with pneumonia.
I’m not sure what to say about George’s pickup. The tires are great. I just don’t want to ride in it! LOL! It has a couple mechanical issues, but it still runs down the road like a champ. So I can’t find any reason to spend money on a lime green beetle, no matter how cute it is. LOL!
I spent most of the last week reviewing our health insurance claims and attempting to choose a gas provider for the next year. I have one healthcare provider who likes to say they billed insurance but actually didn’t.
Adulting is a headache, and should be avoided if at all possible. Pray for rain! X’s & O’s.
