Nelson EMS members receive Simulation in Motion training

Eleven local EMS members receive training

The Nelson Rescue Squad invited SIMS-NE to Nelson to train with their rescue team using full bodied adult and youth simulator manikins.

Simulation in Motion-Nebraska (SIM-NE) is a statewide, mobile education system, which brings hands-on training, using high fidelity human patient simulators, to pre-hospital and hospital professionals.

The manikins demonstrate vital signs such as pupil dilation, rate of pulse, rate of breath through chest rise and fall or circulation through cyanotic discoloration. Having to physically assess and take into account these vital signs during a patient assessment is a skill that is difficult to master using other learning methods such as listening to lectures, passively reading or even a verbal recitation.

SIM-NE provides standardized, training to rural EMS agencies and critical access hospital emergency rooms across the state.

EMS members attending the April 12th training were: Carrie Miller, Jenny Hoecker, Sandra Schendt, Jean Stichka, Carol Eckles, Nick Elledge, Jay Lyon, John Hodge, Tammy Thayer, Kevin Stout and Kevin Bogus.
