Sells to take reins of USD 107 July 1

Jeff Sells begins leadership of USD 107 on July 1

The USD 107 Board of Education has announced the selection of Jeff Sells, as the new superintendent. Sells will take the reins on July 1, 2023.

Sells has broad educational experience, as a teacher, administrator and an educator of educators. He has been principal of Rose Hill Middle School for the past three years.

Prior to that he served as the assistant principal for one year at Rose Hill. Sells has taught middle school math and STEM, as well as high school math and fifth grade at Valley Center, Kansas. Sells has coached high school football and basketball, as well as middle school track and basketball. Sells was named as the Area 3 Middle School Principal of the Year 2021-2022. He brings with him 17 years' experience in education.

Board President Kenny Mizner said Sells emerged from a thorough search process as the right candidate to lead the district. "The board is certain in our choice of Mr. Sells and confident that under his leadership USD 107 will continue to be recognized as a progressive school district."

Mizner explained that community input, including the involvement of a committee of stakeholders was a key factor in the success of the superintendent search process. The committee included teachers and administrators, parents and community members. "The input from the community as a whole was helpful to our process."

The board selected four finalists, who were interviewed by the board. "As a board team we feel we made the right selection to serve our students and our community."
