The Superior Country Club golf course and the Superior High School boys golf team hosted the Superior Invitational last Tuesday. Because of cold temperatures, the event start time was moved to 2 p.m. and was played over nine holes rather than the scheduled 18 holes.
Teams from Doniphan-Trumbull, Heartland, Lawrence-Nelson, Fair- bury, Sandy Creek, Sutton, Fillmore Central, Bruning-Davenport-Shickley, Red Cloud, Thayer Central, Blue Hill, Deshler and Centennial filled out the 14 team invite field.
Doniphan-Trumbull finished atop the team leaderboard with a score of 172.
Superior finished tied for ninth place with a team score of 201 strokes.
Lawrence-Nelson took third place with a team score of 177.
Colten Butler turned in Superior's low round of 42. Carsyn Koening carded a round of 48. Cooper Ehlers posted a round of 55. Ashton Grassman listed a round of 56. Aaron Grassman had a round of 57. The four lowest scores make up the team score.
Krayton Kucera recorded a round of 41 to lead the Lawrence-Nelson team. Kotinek came through with a round of 43. Connor Janda registered a round 46. Bayln Bargen produced a round of 47. Jacob Kathman added a round of 48.
Kucera took home the fifth place medal. Toby Kotinek was in 12th place in the individual standings of 66 golfer.
The Wildcats competed at the Red Cloud quadrangular match, Tuesday, with match results unavailable at press time.
Lawrence-Nelson was scheduled to compete at the Sandy creek Invitational, Tuesday. the match was postponed because of a credible threat against the school.
