Kenneth V. Naysmith, the son of Victor Vernon Naysmith and Hazel Lucille (Clark) Naysmith Hoops, was born Aug. 8, 1942, in Belleville, Kansas. He died March 29, 2023, at Credo Senior Living, Belleville, at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 21 days.
Kenneth grew up in the Byron and Chester area, attending the local country schools and later graduating from Chester High School in 1959. Following his graduation, he was engaged in farming and agriculture in Byron for most of his life.
On August 7, 1966, he was united in marriage to Nancy Ann Young. To this union two children were born, Jeffrey and Jill. The couple made their home in rural Byron, on the farm, moving to Belleville 20 years ago.
Kenneth also sold crop insurance and did computer repair. He was a licensed pilot, flying for pleasure and also did aerial infrared photography of crops in the area for farmers.
Kenneth was a member of the Chester United Methodist Church, former member of the Byron Lions Club and the High Banks Hall of Fame Museum, and the Belleville Flyers Club. He also was a member of the Kansas Sons of American Revolution, Bennington Chapter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, V. Vernon Naysmith and Hazel Naysmith Hoops; brother, Willis Naysmith; sister, Alene Smoot; brother-in-law, Robert Hayes; and step father Edwin Hoops.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Nancy A. Naysmith of Belleville; one son, Jeffrey (Angie) Naysmith of Newton; one daughter, Jill (Jim) Persinger of Toronto, Ontario-Canada; three grandchildren, Kailey (Tanner) Duerksen of Newton, Jensen Persinger of Lawrence, Kansas and Campbell Persinger of Ft. Collins, Colorado; one sister, Norma Hayes of Winter Springs, Florida; other relatives and friends.
His funeral was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 1, at the United Methodist Church, Chester, with Pastor Brian Faust, officiating.
Interment followed at the Chester Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Chester United Methodist Church or the High Banks Hall of Fame Museum.
