Superior Schools start to search for a superintendent

Members of the Superior Board of Education met in special session Monday evening. They released Supt. Kobza from a two year contract and accepted his resignation. He has accepted a superintendent of schools position at Lansing, Kansas starting July 1.

A representative from NRCSA (Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association) talked about the services the organization provides in the search and selection of superintendent.

Board members are leaning toward an abbreviated interim superintendent search offered by NRCSA.

The abbreviated search proceeds as follows: after meeting once with the board president or a committee, up to four potential candidates will be recommended for the board to interview.

Interview questions based on the district’s priorities are provided, one source background checks are completed for the finalists at the districts expense, a rubric to evaluate finalists maybe provided and a NRCSA consultant will be available during the interview selection process via phone. The services will cost the district $1,000.

A written proposal from McPherson and Jacobson, LLC was also available for review. This search firm has been used to find both Supt. Kobza and his predecessor, Supt. Isom.

NRCSA was chosen and a representative will be present to start the search process Monday evening at the regular April board meeting which is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m after the high school music program.
