Sandy Creek schools go into lockdown

The Sandy Creek Public Schools, located in rural Fairfield, went into lockdown Tuesday.

A student was reportedly threatened and the threat was deemed an outside credible threat by authorities. The schools were placed on lockdown.

Officers from the Clay County Sheriffs office, the Nebraska State Patrol and off-duty law enforcement officers arrived on the scene.

A suspect was arrested in Hastings in conjunction with the threat.

The events led to the postponement of both a track meet and golf match scheduled for Tuesday.
