The Jewell County Cinema, Inc. (JCCI) Board met last Monday. The meeting was held at the Mankato Christian Church and on ZOOM and was called to order by Thadd Hinkle.
Members present were Thadd Hinkle, Phyllis Christie, Janis McDill, Virgil Jones and Sarah Ortman. Kristin Underwood and Lisa Goodheart attended by ZOOM.
Janis McDill presented the treasurer’s report stating the theater lost $237.76 last month, partially due to higher utility bills. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented.
In old business, Thadd Hinkle said the repairs to the theater ceiling are on-going. The insurance company has approved painting of both the ceiling and the floor. Phyllis Christie reminded the board that the price for drinks in the consession stand goes up to $2 the first weekend in April. Phyllis said the CASA sponsored movie will be April 22, and they will sell popcorn and provide their own water to sell.
Thadd said the PlayStation was fixed by replacing the HDMI cord. More volunteers are needed to run the theater.
In new business, discussion was held on upcoming movies. “Champions,” “Shazam: Fury of the Gods,” “Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” “Creed III,” “Air - Courting a Legend” and “Super Mario” are all possibilities. Janis said she has a list of 15 children’s movies that would cost only $100 each to show. It was approved by the board to provide three gift certificates for third grade students and three for fifth grade students as prizes for the upcoming Easter egg hunt.
Selling drinks during the Big Kansas Road Trip was discussed. Thadd suggested the stand-up advertising for “Puss ‘n Boots” be used for a prize at the ice cream social fundraiser in August. Phyllis will check the information for After Prom and decide if gift certificates would be appropriate. Contact Phyllis if you are interested in volunteering.
The next meeting will be Monday, April 24.
