One spring it seemed like every time I bought ice cream, we would end up in a tornado warning. One time the sirens were going off before we even made it home from the store. We had all four boys with us that weekend and were racing the storm home. We were on the road and were closer to home than anything else, so while I watched the clouds boil, Goerge drove as fast he felt was safe. We arrived at the Oak school house just as the rain started pouring down and the winds picked up. We got the boys inside and passed out the ice cream. They were all under the age of 12 at the time, so they were all a little scared, but the ice cream helped. Since that spring, I have been banned from purchasing ice cream during tornado season.
Monday I was multi-tasking, and it went rather well, which hasn’t been the case for me in quite a while. I got the boys’ bedrooms cleaned and the bedding washed. I got a few things done for my employer, which I am sure is appreciated. I cleaned the living room, got a couple of loads of laundry done and even remembered to feed myself, all before two p.m.
You might be asking, “What does any of this have to do with anything?” Let’s just say I won’t be buying ice cream this weekend because things are looking just a little too good to be true, and I don’t want to push my luck! LOL!
Friday I was cleaning because I forgot the boys were coming early for their monthly visit. Jack is allergic to cats, and the bedroom door had been left open during my recovery from surgery. I found Bob and Toothless sleeping in his bed. I have to wonder if my efforts were in vain because the boys left the doors open every time they left their rooms. However, I did remember to have Jack take an antihistamine so he did not look like he had been into the “hooch” all weekend when he returned home.
We had a good weekend. George and Jack fiddled with the tiller a bit while I cleaned up the east fence row. Nicholas had some time on the treadmill and asked me about ten million questions about diet and exercise. I’m not sure when I became the leading authority on health and wellness, but I did my best to answer his questions.
Jack graduates this May, first from college and then high school. For the last few years, he has been in a program that allows him to take college courses while in high school, and he will graduate high school with an associate’s degree. He had planned to attend trade school to become a mechanic but instead applied for an apprenticeship at a local factory, working on their equipment. He was accepted and is excited to learn while receiving a paycheck, and we are very happy for him.
Although it was snowing on Friday evening on our way home, I believe spring is here. It felt good to be out working in the yard Saturday, that is, until Sunday morning. LOL! Raking always gets me the first time or two in the spring. X’s & Os.
